2024 Portfolio Update

What a year it was. I will remember 2024 as the year where most of the politicians around the world decided they will go crazy this year. With a lot of wars and conflicting factions here and around the world. Although the effect is not that prominent compared to the previous crashes. There are a couple of times where the market would go up a lot and then down a lot.

Anyways, let’s move on to the portfolio update. I’m going to start off with the performance of the funds that I manage.

My Portfolio

This is my personal portfolio and it makes the bulk of our family’s net worth. This year, our portfolio returned 18.22% vs the PSEI 1.22%.

Kid’s College Fund

For preparation for my kid’s college, I decided to create fund in 2019. This year has been a good year as it made 17.59% vs the PSEI 1.22%.

The goal is to save and invest a total of P1,000,000 per child for college. Currently, I only have 1 child and the portfolio is now at P330,017.24. He is currently 2.5 years old so we still have a lot of runway to make this grow. I’m very happy how this is turning out.

VIP Partnership

This is the fund that I manage for friends from the How to Invest for Beginners family. It also includes a portion of my net worth in the fund (skin in the game).

It was a long wait, but we are starting to see the fruits of our investment. It returned 18.07% this year vs 1.22% for the PSEI.

Others

This year, I bought another real estate property. Nothing much to say about it. Just that, with the number of real estate I hold right now, I’m starting to think about expanding to a more serious rental real estate business.

It takes a lot of time to get into it that’s why I’m delaying it. But the people that I’ve met along the way that could potentially help jumpstart a real estate rental business and make my life easier, made me give it some thought.

I also did not include the gains from real estate. All portfolio are just stocks. If I were to include the gains from real estate to know the gain of our net worth it would probably be around ~30% for this year. I did bought a couple depressed properties and have them appraised.

Final Thoughts

This marks the 8th year that I started this blog. The goal was to record and document if I can ever beat the index for the long term. And it’s been 8 years and we are still beating the pse index.

I’m excited for next year.
